Description
Welcome to the rural heart of North Yorkshire - to Ryedale, Malton and our home village of Slingsby. Our cottage provides the ideal base for touring, walking, cycling and exploring the many picturesque villages, stately homes and attractions of the region.
In Slingsby you will find a pub, farm shop and children's play park. Nearby are the market towns of Malton, Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and Helmsley, while York and the East Coast are also within easy reach.
The Stables is furnished to a very high standard, with all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Telephone and wifi are available and the accommodation has been sympathetically converted from old farm buildings, providing a cosy and well maintained home from home. In addition, the cottage is on ground floor level with easy access.
It is a few years since we set to work converting the old stables into a cosy holiday cottage, and we're very pleased with the result. The Stables retains many of its original features: high kitchen ceilings, exposed wood beams and attractive stonework. There is also wifi and a phone, widescreen TV with Freeview, DVD player and a well-equipped kitchen.
The Stables holiday cottage is full of the kind character and original charm you might expect from a converted farm building. Add to this the many home comforts and facilities provided, and you have a most agreeable and comfortable way to spend a week self-catering in North Yorkshire.
The Stables holiday cottage sleeps six people. The accommodation comprises:
Sitting room with wood burning stove and patio doors leading into the conservatory, with patio furniture
Dining room with exposed stone walls and wood beams
Well equipped kitchen
Utility room
Three bedrooms:
one double
one twin
one single with additional hideaway bed
Bathroom with shaver points, bath, shower, wash hand basin and WC
Separate shower room with shower, WC and wash hand basin.
Outside there is ample private parking and a private lawn. .
The Stables is all on ground floor level, with easy access for people with mobility problems.
In the shelter of the Howardian Hills, home to Castle Howard, and within easy reach of York, the East Coast and the North Yorkshire Moors, is the picturesque village of Slingsby.
Slingsby is 16 miles north east of the historic city of York. It is 6 miles west of the market town of Malton on the B1257. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, miles of footpaths and attractive rural villages - come and discover Slingsby, Ryedale and the North Yorkshire area!

Sometimes given the nickname of “God’s Own County” thanks to its lush green countryside and wild expanses of moor land, Yorkshire is the largest county in England. It is home to over 800 attractions, from breweries to museums, castles to zoos, and World Heritage Sites to breathtaking rides. There are many popular seaside resorts along its coastline, including Whitby, Bridlington and Scarborough, as well as quieter villages and working harbours nestled among the rugged cliffs. The North York Moors, the Yorkshire Dales and part of the Peak District National Park offer wonderful opportunities for walkers, cyclists and climbers, as well as nature reserves for bird spotters and naturalists. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway carries more passengers than any other heritage railway in the UK and the National Railway Museum is to be found in the county capital city, York.
